After you create your profile, contact the local officiating association for your sport. A registration fee will be required at this time. These associations certify officials in the sports of basketball, soccer, football, track, baseball, volleyball, wrestling and softball. All officials must be members of an AHSAA affiliated association.
Once you have been registered with a local association, it will notify the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Your enrollment with the AHSAA allows you to begin your official’s training and certification. This process consists of viewing an online clinic and taking the NFHS test for new officials. A passing grade of 80% will allow you to become fully registered to officiate.
Training for AHSAA Officials
Training for Alabama referees and umpires is handled by these local associations. It is through them that you will receive rule books and other support material. They also hold local meetings to help you better yourself as an official and learn about yearly rule changes and points of emphasis.
